Student Finance — You Don't Pay Upfront

Most UK students never pay a penny upfront. Here's how it actually works.

Tuition Fee Loan

Covers the full cost of your tuition fees — paid directly to your institution, not to you.

  • Up to £9,250/year for full-time study
  • Available to UK nationals and settled residents
  • No credit check required

Maintenance Loan

Money for living costs — rent, food, transport. Paid directly into your bank account.

  • Up to £13,022/year (London), £9,978 (elsewhere)
  • Amount depends on household income
  • Paid in 3 instalments per year

When Do You Start Repaying?

£25,000+

You only repay once earning over £25,000/year

9%

Of income above the threshold. Earn £27k = repay ~£15/month

40 years

Remaining balance written off after 40 years

Repayment is automatic through your payslip — like a small tax. Stop earning over £25k? Repayments pause.

Common Questions

I don't have A-Levels. Can I still go to university?
Yes, absolutely. Our partner institutions accept students without traditional A-Levels. If you have work experience, a BTEC, Access to HE Diploma, or equivalent qualifications, you can apply. Many courses actively welcome mature students and career changers.
How much does it cost? Do I pay upfront?
You don't pay upfront. Student Finance England covers your tuition fees and provides a maintenance loan for living costs. You only start repaying once you're earning over £25,000/year. Some programmes start from as low as ~£6,185/year.
Can I study part-time or around my job?
Yes. Many of our partner programmes offer evening and weekend classes. When you take the quiz or enquire, mention you need flexible scheduling and we'll match you with the right option.
I'm over 30/40/50. Is it too late?
It's never too late. There is no upper age limit for university. Mature students often perform better because they bring real-world experience and motivation. Student finance is available at any age, and all our partners have dedicated mature student support.
What happens after I take the quiz?
You'll get instant results showing which course categories match your interests and location. Then a friendly education advisor will contact you within 24 hours to discuss your options in detail. They'll help with applications, student finance, and finding the perfect course. It's completely free and no obligation.
What qualifications will I get?
Depending on the programme: Bachelor's Degree (BA/BSc) (3 years full-time), Master's Degree (postgraduate options available), or HND Level 5 (2 years, can top up to a full degree). All qualifications are nationally recognised and accredited.
